Currently the Head of Economics Department, Faculty of Economics and Business University of Indonesia (since February 2020). Before his current position, he was the Director of the Master Program in Economic Planning and Development Policy (2018-2020), the Deputy Director of the Graduate Program in Economics (2014 – 2018) and the Director of the Institute for Economic and Social Research, Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia from 2013 to 2014. He pursued his graduate education in 2001 at Georgia State University, funded by USAID Scholarship. The title of his doctoral dissertation is "The Effect of Penalties on Regulatory Compliance." One of the notable differences in his dissertation is that he takes into account undetected violations. After returning to Indonesia in 2007, he rejoined LPEM FEB UI and became a lecturer at the FEBUI. His research areas include political economy, public finance, industrial economics, and environmental economics.
